I guess it’s a good thing that since the 9th May myself and Jigna have been on a spending ban. It’s meant that instead of spending the month trying out the newest stuff I’ve actually dug deep into my makeup collection and picked out one or two old favourites. But as every I had to throw some new stuff in there didn’t I?
My most used this product has been Nars Sheer Glow in the shade Barcelona. I bought this with the intention that I would only use this for occasions but oh my. I love it too much. Like too, too much. I have always always used drugstore foundations so to me this is a real luxury to have. I do sometimes feel like I’m wasting this by wearing it to work everyday but to be honest it makes my skin look so good that I really don’t want to go back to using anything else. It’s got to the point that once the spending ban is over this is one of the things I will be stocking up on straight away, a long with a tinted moisturiser from Nars too. Why didn’t I buy this soon?!
There are 3 NYX products that have made it into my favourites this month. First up is the Soft Matte Lip cream in the shade Cannes which happens to be the perfect everyday lip colour. It’s quite pink toned but it’s actually a very flattering colour on my lips. I do have to touch this up after lunch but besides that it does have very good lasting power and it’s doesn’t dry out my lips or bleed either. I honestly can’t wait to get some more of these.
Next up is the Full Coverage concealer in the shade Tan. Although the shade is slightly too dark for me I actually love the formula of this. It’s very creamy and covers any problem areas really well. I know a lot of people don’t really like the idea of having to dip your finger into a jar but to be honest I really don’t mind. Finally this months most most used blush is ‘Dusty Rose’ this is actually my first every NYX blush but I can now see why these blushes are so hyped up. For the price I think they’re amazing. Very pigmented but also have great staying power. I’ve been reaching for this pretty much most days, especially for work as it gives a touch of colour without being too much.
Another concealer which has been in the top Muji drawer this month is the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. A lot of people compare this to the Nars creamy concealer – which I haven’t tried so I can’t say much about that (although it’s on my wishlist..) It’s a very lightweight concealer which I’ve using for under my eyes. The shade is just a bit lighter than my skin tone so it’s great to brighten the under eyes. You need the smallest amount of this and I find it lasts pretty well throughout the day and doesn’t crease either.
My last two favourites are a surprise this month – first up is the L’Oreal False Lash Telescopic Mascara, why I ever stopped using this I don’t know. The past few months I had been trying the Maybelline big eyes and really enjoying it but to be honest it’s no where near as good as this. I really need to repurchase this but I can’t till the spending ban is over (sob) it has an amazing brush that really separates the lashes and doesn’t leave them clumped together. I can tell mine is starting to dry out as I really have had it for ages, but It’s got me through the month so I can’t wait to get some more of it. Finally it’s the MUA Heaven on Earth eyeshadow palette which I have had for a really long time. I used to only use this for occasions but this month I have been trying out a few different eye looks and with a decent primer these shadows really do last all day. I love that the colours are quite warm and they’re not overly shimmery even for day time. at £4 this is a palette you really need to have.
