Not everyone gets excited about skincare but for me i get just as excited about the latest bit of skincare as I do a new nail polish or lipstick. Having always had problem skin I’m always looking for new products that are going to help my skin out. Escentual.com is one of my favourite places to shop online, they have all the brands I love – with many products usually on offer too! – as well lots of other brands that I look forward to trying out. I also love their speedy delivery, if you order before 2:30pm and spend £30 you’re pretty much guaranteed to get your order within two days. The Bioderma micellar water and the La-Roche Posay Effacalr Duo+ were repurchases but I also got some new stuff this time too, from a brand I hadn’t even heard of believe it on.

The first item I went for was the Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Active Concentrate. £6.75. As mentioned I had never even heard of the Eucerin brand but as there was 25% off most of the range I knew it would be a good time to try some stuff from them. On first impressions I think the brand comes across as being quite affordable and but has a lot of credibility too it too. Looking at the different products the descriptions were really informative and quite a few products seem to appeal to me as they target problem skin. The concentrate is meant to help your skin feel refreshed and calm and over time give you a clearer complexion by helping keep bacteria at bay and stopping any breakouts. it 30ml in size which doesn’t seem like much but the formula is incredibly runny, I expected it to be much more thicker but I actually like it. It’s incredibly light weight and one pump is all you need for your entire face. It smells quite nice and feels very cooling on your skin and instantly absorbed. I’ve only used this for a few days so can’t wait to see how my skin is looking after a few weeks, but so far, it’s looking good.

My second purchase was the Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm, £6.35, this is basically a balm to combat any overly dry areas or patches you might have. When I read this in my mind it reminded me a lot of the Elizabeth 8 hour cream which I have but haven’t really been reaching for lately as it’s just too thick. I had high expectations for this balm considering it’s claims and the first place I used it was on a spot on my cheek that had become really painful and was surrounded but a load of dry skin (which is a pain when trying to conceal it or apply any foundation) I applied this before I went to sleep and woke up in the morning and noticed and instant difference. The pesky spot was no longer surrounded by a horrible patch of dry skin and had a actually started to heal sooner than I thought. After the second night of the application I can now easily cover the blemish with foundation and not have to worry about it getting caught in the drier patches. Amazing. The formula is obviously very thick but no where near as greasy as the 8 hour cream. This is much lighter, it feels less sticky and feels soothing on the skin – and it stays on my face well into the morning.

My final purchase was the Vichy Normaderm 3 in 1 Cleanser + scrub + mask, £10.20, This was a bit of random buy, on of those products that I had seen crop up but never really given much thought too. As I was placing the order I thought I might as well give this a go now. This is my first product from Vichy so I was pretty excited, I’ve heard great things about their concealer (which is next on my list!) so I had no worries that their skincare products would be equally as good. I liked the idea of having a 3 in 1 product that you could use in different way and I hadn’t seen anything like this before. I’ve used this twice now, once as a mask and one as a scrub and it’s worked really well. I haven’t had any problems with it and it’s reacted pretty well to my skin. It’s got a nice texture with small micro beads and overall it’s quite fine, it doesn’t feel harsh when you apply it to your face but it’s got enough texture to use a scrub. It’s one of those products that is quite hard to talk about you’ve just got to try it! It certainly doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry or anything like that which is always a concern for me. Overall loving this so far. Think I prefer it as a mask than a scrub so will be a nice weekly treatment I think.
